My name is Jeff Nittrouer and I’m a faculty member in geosciences at Rice University. I’m reaching out as the PI of a NSF-funded GOLD-EN grant, in which we are working to improve the recruitment and retention of underrepresented students in the geosciences through an allyship training program for faculty and graduate students. Involvement in this program requires no more than 6 collective hours spread over 6-8 months, conducted virtually, at one’s convenience.
We are currently recruiting faculty and graduate students to apply to join our program; if selected, they will receive a minimum of $2K each (maximum $3K) to fund research or an academic field trip. I want to highlight that funds for this project can be used to support class-based field trips. Also, because this is a NSF-funded DEI project, participating individuals and departments will be duly noted.
Applications are submitted through our project website. The application requires only three pages of submitted materials (plus a C V). Applications are due Thurs. April 15th.
