Field Geology and Paleoanthropology in Tanzania
This 6-week summer course will provide hands-on experience in field geology and paleoanthropology of the Olduvai Gorge site situated on the flanks of East African Rift Valley in northern Tanzania. The course topics include sedimentology, stratigraphy, geomorphology, volcanology, tectonics, paleontology, archaeology, taphonomy and field techniques such as lithic technology, excavations, mapping and surveys. You will have an opportunity to learn basic Swahili, local cultures, and interact with the pastoral communities such as Maasai at Olduvai area.
