I study wind plant aerodynamics and their effects on wind-power-plant performance. I use high-performance-computing-based fluid flow simulations to study the impacts of different kinds of atmospheric flows on wind power plants and individual wind-turbine wakes. I enjoy applying these numerical simulations to wind-power-plant control and optimization. At the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, I am the PI of a project concerning the coupling of mesoscale weather models or observations with wind-power-plant-local turbulence-resolving simulations.
