Income from these gifts is used for the general support of the Judson Mead Geologic Field Station, in order to support teaching of geoscience in the field to students and other individuals of all ages, and research into the best practices of teaching geosciences in the field.
The use of the Fund is determined by the administrative director of the Field Station, in consultation with and with the approval of the department chair. Expenditures may include, but are not limited to, course development and marketing, instrumentation and equipment; enhancement of infrastructure; faculty recruitment and retention; workshops and seminars; travel for faculty, staff, and students; and other needs that will ensure the highest level of excellence in teaching and pedagogic research based at the Judson Mead Geologic Field Station.
