  • EAS Professor Michael Hamburger in Food for Thought

June 10: "COVID-19, Climate Change, and the Future of Civilization"

Friday, June 5, 2020

Michael W. Hamburger

The Food for Thought Livestream Series:
A Presentation and Q&A with Michael Hamburger
Wednesday, June 10 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Hosted online via Zoom

Michael Hamburger

COVID-19, Climate Change, and the Future of Civilization. This presentation will explore the connections between the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters, and the global climate crisis. The coronavirus pandemic has found frequent media comparisons to natural disasters. While it shares some important similarities with natural disasters, its global scope, gradual emergence, and widespread impacts on human health, the economy, and societal relations appear more like a dress rehearsal for climate change. Professor Hamburger will discuss the impacts of the pandemic on the global environment and its implications for the challenge of anthropogenic climate change.

RSVP for the livestream via the form below. The day of the presentation, you'll receive an e-mail reminder about the event, which will be hosted via Zoom. The livestream is open to anyone who registers, and visitors can RSVP anytime until the end of the event. We hope that you can join us!
