P: Mathematics M301, M303, or equivalent. Mathematical techniques to infer the properties of the deep interior of the earth from geophysical data and to appraise the reliability of the results. Theory of generalized inverses in finite dimensional vector spaces and Hilbert space. Resolving power of data. Nonlinear inverse methods. (Tier III).
